Data collected in OPREANTAR XLI

Today scientists from LOA worked on the installation of the meteorological tower on Penguin Island. The meteorological tower instaled there performs continuous and high-frequency measurements of atmospheric variables. Besides, it was installed a fixed buoy near this station, to do oceanic measurements. These information are used in studies of sea ice-atmosphere-ocean-wave Interaction, heat exchange, momentum (quantity of movement) and CO2 at their interfaces in the Southern Ocean.

With these data, we can understand some processes which occurs through the interaction between the ocean and the atmosphere in high latitudes. That is, this information helps us understand climate variability, as well as verify the effects of climatic change.
